FIGHTDANCEPLAY
Brazilian Capoeira in Colorado Springs
MORE THAN
MARTIAL
ARTS
Capoeira is an Afro-Brazilian art that weaves together martial arts, dance, acrobatics, and live music into a single fluid expression.

MUSIC
The berimbau leads the roda, setting the rhythm and energy. We train instruments, songs, and the oral traditions.

MOVEMENT
Born from resistance, disguised as dance. The ginga, kicks, escapes, and acrobatics create an endless dialogue.

COMMUNITY
More than a gym — a family. We train together, celebrate together, and grow together in the art.

THE REAL
THING.
Not imported. Not adapted. Original.
Mestre Betinho was born in Praia Grande, São Paulo, Brazil — where capoeira isn't a class you take, it's the air you breathe. He learned from true Brazilian mestres with lineages stretching back generations, in the rodas where the art was forged.
When you train at Capoeira Ventre Livre, you're not learning an interpretation of capoeira. You're learning capoeira — the movement, the music, the history, the culture, and the language, taught by someone who learned it in Brazil for whom it was never separate from daily life.
And yes — training with Mestre Betinho is one of the best ways to learn Portuguese. Not classroom Portuguese. Brazilian Portuguese — the calls of the roda, the words of the songs, the language of the culture, spoken naturally by someone who has never known anything else. Every class is an immersion.

VENTRE
LIVRE
“Free Womb”
In 1871, Brazil passed the Lei do Ventre Livre — the Free Womb Law — declaring that children born to enslaved mothers would be free.
Capoeira was born from this same struggle: a martial art disguised as dance, created by enslaved Africans who refused to stop fighting for their freedom.
Our school carries this name as a reminder of where capoeira comes from — and why it still matters today.
